La Historia · About the Book
Spanning more than thirty years of unforgettable journeys, Adventures of a Chicano Spanish Teacher, Mexico and Beyond follows Sonny Morin's backpacking, scuba diving, and sightseeing adventures across the Western Hemisphere and Micronesia. From ancient ruins rising out of the jungle to vibrant city plazas alive with music and mercado chatter, every chapter captures the thrill of arriving somewhere new — and the deeper joy of understanding it.
Beneath the surface, the adventure continues. Morin descends into crystal-clear waters teeming with life, trading the classroom for coral reefs and cenotes, and returning with stories most travelers only dream about.
Blending personal reflection with pulse-quickening experience, this memoir is more than a travelogue. It is an open invitation — from a teacher who spent his career opening doors to language and culture — to share in a lifetime of adventure, one border crossing, one dive, one unforgettable meal at a time.
